The film was an action thriller film in which Alia Bhatt played the main lead along with Vedang Raina playing her brother. The film collected around 32 crores in India in its lifetime run and overseas collections were around 30 crores. The final collection worldwide is around 62 Crores Globally. The film was rejected by the audiences at the Indian box office and it was a big flop making a loss of around 30 Crores at Indian BO.
The film has managed to collect around 30 crores overseas and the makers also got some money by selling the digital and music rights of the film. The has recovered its making cost but the box office verdict of the film is still a flop because digital rights and other revenues are not determining factors in the box office verdict.
The failure of Jigra was a big setback for Alia Bhatt as an actor and Producer. Movie director Vasan Bala has taken the responsibilities of box office failure of the film during an interview. Alia Bhatt is currently shooting for ALPHA which is also an action thriller film and now it would be interesting to see if ALPHA establishes Alia as an action star in the Industry.
